DUOPOLY gives you extraordinary power to create a detailed map using pre-calculated AM, FM and TV signal contour databases. In just seconds, you can can look at any market in the continental U.S. and accurately determine the level of coverage. You have the ability to specify AM, FM, TV, or any combination of station contours. Now that the F.C.C. has relaxed the ownership limits, you can identify and plot all appropriate signal contours in a given market. DUOPOLY is the tool for multi-ownership analysis (See Sec. 73.3555).

To start the program enter a center map reference coordinate location or call a station from the FCC database and use its coordinates. Click on the geographic overlays you wish to display including the "Duopoly" layers.

If you are not using the default signal contour levels, click the "Set" button to go to the Set Defaults screen and then select the signal contour levels that you wish to display. Once selected, click "Make" on the main screen to prepare a duopoly study map.

You may want to show only those signal contours that cross your particular reference. Click the List button and a complete list of all stations in your study will be displayed. Next, select your duopoly study reference stations by holding down the CTRL key and then by clicking the desired stations from the alphabetical list. Next "Click" the reference button and you will see a list of all your reference stations. (These would be the stations in your market that your company already owns and expects to acquire). Next simply click the "Calc" button to create a list of all station signal contours that cross any one of the references you choose. A list will appear of all the stations that should be included in your study. You can plot these stations on your map by clicking the "Plot" button.

You can select one station from the list at a time if you wish to selectively plot the signal service contours of any AM, FM or TV station in the US.

Duopoly will allow the use of additional optional overlays, such as population cluster-grams, FCC Antenna Survey Branch towers and airports. Two cities databases are included the "even spread" database and the complete cities database with over 32,000 entries.
