Adding Cities
To add individual cities to a frame in INTERDLG select the "City" command button found in the "Add Function" frame buttons at bottom center of the Main Screen. Fill in the two letter abbreviation for the State where the city is located. Next type the city's name or any portion of it. Then click "Find ". Click "Next" if you need to go to another match for the city the program has identified. When you find the city you wish to add click "Add" to add it to the map. You may add as many cities to your map as you like before clicking "Exit" to return to the main screen and a view of the map to which you are adding cities. The "Back " and "Next" buttons allow you to list cities alphabetically. Geolayer CitiesThere are two city related selections available within the Geolayers check box frame on the main screen. The check box "US Cities" will print an even distribution of a given area's larger cities. These cities have been selected to avoid overlapping city labels, however depending on the map scale used, some overlapping may occur. If so, the labels can be moved easily using INTERDLG's Edit/Move feature. When a city name is moved the "*" representing the city's center coordinates will remain fixed. A second city overlay choice is the "Every City" selection. When you select this function INTERDLG will display each and every city within the boundaries of your map from its database of over 32,000 cities. This function has a couple of important uses. First you can use "Every City" to plot all cities on a map that displays a small area, such as for the plot of a translator station for example. You can also use this selection to place every city on a map and then you can decide which cities you want to retain. Next you use the "Undo" function to remove the "Every City" overlay. Then you can add just the cities you wish to retain using the "add city" function described above. |
