The SunDTV interface can be used to manually enter the reference station parameters. Click on the "Add" button in the Transmitters section of the main window to bring up the transmitter edit window.
Transmitter information can be entered manually in this window. Use the "Edit Azimuthal Antenna Pattern" to specify an antenna pattern for the station. The "Load" and "Save" buttons at the bottom of the window can be used to save entered information to a file or load and .xpt file that was output by another program (see loading transmitters). Note that the channel offset is appeded to the channel number (for example, to have a 'minus' offset on channel 43 you would specify the channel number as "43-").
Use the "Broadcast Type" selection to specify which type of station is being defined.
The "Emission Mask" specifies which emission mask is to be used for LPTV/translator studies. If "Full Service" mask is selected then the D/U ratios associated with the standard full service mask are used. This option is not shown for when a 'full service' broadcast type is selected.
If you are entering a station to replace one of the stations already in the FCC database, it may be important that the city and state match the corresponding transmitter. Use the "Find" button to identify proper values for these values to match an existing station.
Azimuthal and vertical antenna patterns can be specified for the transmitter using the corresponding 'edit' buttons. Each button will show a pattern editor for the particular type of pattern. If no vertical pattern is defined (or and all full field one is) then the processing program will use the generic OET 69 defined pattern that matches the the band and broadcast type of the transmitter when performing calculations. |
