The ZIP file produced by the Sun machine contains five files. There are two TXT files and an INF, SMR (SUM for LPTV program), and LOG file (these denote the file extensions).
The main TXT file contains the main output of the processing program. Its name matches the "job name" that was entered when running the study with a ".TXT" appended to it. This output file is exactly what the FCC will see when processing your application, with the exception of lines that begin with an asterisk ( * ). Lines that begin with a * represent output that was added by V-Soft.
The second TXT file contains the output of a "summary" that is similar in format to the one produced by the FCC's internal processing system. This files name has the format of "job name" + "_summary" + ".TXT". This file contians the information shown at the beginning of the main output file followed by the information about "failures" included in the SMR file.
The INF file contains information about parameters used in running the study.
The SMR file contains a summary of the protection 'failures' encountered in running the study. This file will be empty if there were no protection failures in the study. Note that for studies run using the LPTV processing program the file extension for this file will be SUM.
The LOG file is generated by the processing program. I contains information about the state of the FCC database and various calculation data. This file is intended more for debugging and is not generally used. You will notice a series of "errors" reported in this file that are intended to point out potential problems in the CDBS database, but do not adversely affect the study.
Special Note about the formatting of these files: The output generated by the SunDTV system in the standard UNIX ascii file format. This differs slightly from the PC ascii format in the way that the "end of line" is denoted. You will need to use a program that is capable of handling this to view these files correctly. Programs like "Wordpad" (included with Windows) and "MS Word" will correctly display these files. Note however that "Notepad" (also included with Windows) will not. |
